Announcing Habitat’s Annual Indian Dinner & Silent Auction
On Saturday, November 12, 2011 beginning at 6:00 pm, Habitat for Humanity Yolo County will be presenting our Annual Indian Dinner and Silent Auction fundraiser at St. James Catholic Church, 1275 B Street in Davis. Since Habitat was established in 1993, one of our founding members, Mary Philip, has volunteered her time and skills by cooking an authentic Indian dinner to raise funds to support our work in constructing homes for low-income families in Yolo County. This event has become a tradition and something we look forward to every year.
Work began on this event in July. There will be a no-host bar featuring wines from Rominger West Winery and beer from Sudwerk Brewery. Bob Dunning, editor of the Davis Enterprise, will be the Master of Ceremony. Yolo Mambo will entertain diners (to hear a selection of their music, go to www.yolomambo.com). This will be a four course dinner and will feature traditional hors d’oeuvres, a main course of curried chicken, rice, and seasonal vegetables, followed by a live dessert auction. The dessert auction was added two years ago and was the brainchild of the former executive director and board member Rebecca Restrepo. It was a huge hit then and is a great way to end the evening. We will have homemade desserts and desserts from bakeries for tables to bid on.
Proceeds from this year’s event will go towards our Bryte/Broderick Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative. Tickets are $40 per person.
Online ordering for this event is now closed. A limited number of tickets will be available
at the door.
